In an attempt to lock up more Whites for the holocaust, a Slovak man is accused of leading a slaugher of civilians in 1945 in spite of a lack of proof and contradicting claims.

A German prosecutor on Tuesday demanded a life prison sentence for an 88-year-old former Nazi commander, saying he helped perpetrate an act of “terror” with his involvement in massacres of Slovak civilians at the end of World War II.

Evidence presented over the last 14 months against Ladislav Niznansky shows he should be convicted of 164 counts of murder in three massacres in early 1945 after a failed uprising against Slovakia’s Nazi puppet government, prosecutor Konstantin Kuchenbauer said.

A former Slovak army captain who at first supported the revolt, Niznansky changed sides after his capture and took charge of the Slovak section of a Nazi unit code-named Edelweiss that hunted resistance fighters and Jews.

PRAGUE- A 21-year-old man who demonstrated in support of imprisoned German Holocaust denier Ernst Zuendel on October 28, a Czech national holiday, will be tried in court for the denial of Holocaust, state attorney Zdenka Galkova said.
Galkova said she sent the man’s file to the court today. If found guilty, he faces up to three years in prison.

Ein Sprecher des Innenministeriums bestätigte am Donnerstag, dass der 67-Jährige am 11. November in der Steiermark auf Grund eines Haftbefehls des Landgerichts Wien in Untersuchungshaft genommen worden sei.

Irving war erstmals 1984 in Österreich festgenommen und nach Deutschland abgeschoben worden. Die Nachricht von der Verhaftung des „Historikers“ war zuerst auf der Homepage Irvings veröffentlicht worden.

Nach Informationen des Dokumentationsarchivs des Österreichischen Widerstandes war der Rechtsextremist vermutlich auf dem Weg zu einem Stiftungsfest einer Wiener Burschenschaft. Er wurde am Nachmittag des 11. November im Gemeindegebiet von St. Johann in der Heide in der Steiermark auf Grund des Haftbefehls vom 8. November 1989 festgenommen. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A former official with the U.S. governing administration in Iraq and a contractor have been arrested on charges involving a bribery and fraud scheme, the U.S. Justice Department said on Thursday.
The defendants were identified as Robert Stein, comptroller and funding officer for the Coalition Provisional Authority - South Central Region in 2003 and 2004, and Philip Bloom, the owner of numerous construction and service companies.
Beginning in December of 2003, Stein and Bloom conspired to rig bids so that numerous CPA contracts were awarded to Bloom’s businesses, according to court documents. The total value of the contracts awarded to Bloom exceeded $13 million.
According to affidavits filed in federal court in Washington in support of the arrest warrants, Bloom paid Stein and others hundreds of thousands of dollars in money and gifts so that contracts would be awarded to Bloom and his companies. Source>>>

TORONTO (CP) - Countries hoping to integrate newcomers are better off embracing a Canadian-style cultural mosaic rather than a melting-pot style of immigration policy, suggests a new study on immigrant youth.

The study, based on more than 5,000 interviews conducted over 10 years, looked at 13 countries and the experiences of their young immigrants.

The ideal situation is for young immigrants to be proud of both their ethnic culture and new country, and to avoid ignoring either, said researcher Prof. John Berry of Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont.

Remembering their roots makes it easier to handle discrimination and deal with the challenges of facing a new life, the report says.

“Adolescents who are confident in their own ethnicity and proud of their ethnic group may be better able to deal constructively with discrimination, for example, by regarding it as the problem of the perpetrator or by taking proactive steps to combat it,” the report states.

MANNHEIM, GERMANY - The trial in Germany of a neo-Nazi whose U.S. website glorified dictator Adolf Hitler was delayed till next year Tuesday when the court ordered a postponement while a new legal-aid lawyer is found for Ernst Zuendel, 66.

Last week, the high-profile trial had barely started when the judge threw out one of Zuendel’s far-right-wing lawyers and told a second that her neo-Nazi argumentation made her unfit to receive legal-aid fees from the state.

As is common in Germany, Zuendel is only retaining back-up lawyers at his own expense and is insisting that his prime defence counsel be subsidized by the state. Zuendel, who has lived in North America for most of his is accused of denying the Holocaust.

A middle school in Michigan recently pulled a song from a school concert featuring folk songs. The song “Pick a Bale of Cotton,” which is a popular folk song was removed when a black parent claimed the song was offensive to blacks. Gotta jump down, turn around, Oh, Lordie, pick a bale a day.” The parents claimed that the song brought back memories of how blacks picked cotton, and that it was disrespectful to blacks. Two Ugandan rebels shot a British man dead and wounded three people when they attacked a group of tourists in northwestern Uganda, officials said.
The man who was killed had gone to help other tourists whose vessel had capsized in the Murchison Falls National Park, 230 kilometers (140 miles) northwest of the capital, Kampala, Ugandan army spokesman Lt. Chris Magezi said Tuesday.
After the river accident, they were driving in a vehicle when they came across two Lord’s Resistance Army rebels, who “fired on the vehicle,” instantly killing the British man, who had been driving, Magezi said.

PARIS - French far-right leader Jean-Marie Le Pen claimed Wednesday his National Front party has been “submerged” with prospective members and supportive e-mail since rioting erupted in heavily immigrant communities near Paris.

A US luxury cruise liner was attacked by heavily-armed pirates off the eastern African coast Saturday, US media reported. Pirates in two armed boats approached the Miami-based Seabourn Spirit some 170 km off the coast of Somalia and fired a rocket-propelled grenade and several machine-gun shots.

While pirates tried to get onboard, the 10,000-ton cruise liner managed to change its course and outrun the boats of the pirates.

One crew member on the liner suffered minor wounds from flying debris. The vessel’s 151 passengers, mostly Americans with some Australians and Europeans, were gathered in a lounge for their safety and none was injured, reports Xinhua.

Edith Laird, from Seattle in the US, told the BBC News website she was only four rooms away from where a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) hit the Seabourn Spirit, about 100 miles (160km) from the Somali coast.
