WASHINGTON– An Israeli diplomat, Yosef Sagiv, was arrested Friday in the American city of Atlanta on suspicion of computer related offences linked to pornography and the sexual exploitation of children.

Captain Steve Morris, of the Columbia District Police in Georgia, told Ynet that the arrestee was a worker in the Israeli Consulate. He was arrested upon leaving his home and transferred into custody at a distance from Atlanta.

Daniel Craig, the District Attorney of Augusta, in the state of Georgia, announced that Sagiv used the internet and email in order to persuade a child to carry out illegal acts such as sodomy and severe sexual abuse. Read more »

A speech on postwar German expellees and a misdirected fax have caused embarrassment for the ministry of culture and roused accusations that Germany doesn’t take the Holocaust legacy seriously.

Red-faced officials at the German culture ministry scrambled to apologize Tuesday after two gaffes at former Nazi concentration camps.

The first occurred when Hermann Schäfer, the deputy minister for culture and media, gave a speech at a memorial concert for victims of the Buchenwald camp near Weimar in central Germany.

He spoke at length about the ordeal faced by Germans expelled from their homes by Red Army forces in the final days of World War II but failed to mention Nazi crimes or Holocaust victims at any point during the speech.

Money for Italian prisoners? No….JEWS ONLY! 

BERLIN - The German state has paid out about 63 billion euros (80.6 billion dollars) in compensation for the Holocaust since 1949, the government said Monday.

Six million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust carried out under Nazi Germany during Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich from 1933 to 1945.

However the German government said it saw no reason to pay compensation to Italians held prisoner during the Second World War who were used for forced labour.

Italians soldiers interned by Nazi Germany from 1943 after the Italian government surrendered to the Allies - and held until Nazi Germany capitulated in 1945 - are not eligible for compensation from a fund for slave labourers, said the government.

A compensation package for Nazi era slave labourers, funded half by the German state and half by private industry, only covers civilian slave labourers - not soldiers, said the government.

TEHRAN (AFP) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has told German Chancellor Angela Merkel that the Holocaust may have been invented by the victorious Allied powers in World War II to embarrass Germany, the semi-official news agency Mehr has reported.

The remarks by the outspoken Ahmadinejad, who has repeatedly questioned the veracity of the Holocaust, came in a letter sent to Merkel in July whose contents have not been disclosed until now.

“Is it not a reasonable possibility that some countries that had won the war made up this excuse to constantly embarrass the defeated people … to bar their progress,” Ahmadinejad said in the letter on Monday.

“The question is if these countries, especially Britain, felt responsible for the Holocaust survivors, why they did not settle them in their own countries?” it said. Read more »

Backers of illegal immigration at a rally near Los Angeles took down an American flag at a U.S. post office, stamped on it and replaced it with a Mexican flag as police looked on, according to witnesses and a video of the event.

Police officers in Maywood, Calif., Saturday eventually came to the pole to remove the flag but had bottles and rocks thrown at them, a radio listener named Sandra reported to the Terry Anderson show, heard on KRLA in Los Angeles.

The upcoming season of “Survivor” which premiers Sept. 14th is scheduled to divide the teams along racial lines. There will be 4 teams: the White Tribe, the African-American Tribe, the Asian-American Tribe, and the Hispanic Tribe. Host Jeff Probst said that the idea arose because the producers noticed that the applicants had so much “ethnic pride,” so it was decided to divide them on that basis. The American Civil Liberties Union is investigating a Rhode Island state trooper who apprehended 14 illegal immigrants during a traffic stop, charging “racial profiling” and insisting the officer had no right to ask for ID.The Rhode Island affiliate of the ACLU filed the case after the driver and several passengers alleged Trooper Thomas Chabot overstepped his authority during the July 11 traffic stop by taking immigration enforcement into his own hands, the Providence Journal reported.

However, asking for identification during traffic stops is a department procedure, and when the passengers could not provide valid ID, Chabot contacted officials with the Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement division.

The federal authorities eventually determined the 14 passengers entered the U.S. illegally and now face deportation. Read more »

BOSTON — A judge’s sentence in an attack on two black girls requires a member of a prominent North Shore family to remove racist tattoos from his body and visit the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C., among other things.

Suffolk Superior Court Judge Charles Spurlock on Friday ordered Josiah Spaulding III to serve five years of probation in the 2002 attack, which prosecutors said was racially motivated. Spaulding, 26, is white, and was described by prosecutors at his trial as a “skinhead.”

In addition to requiring the museum visit and tattoo removal, Spurlock ordered Spaulding to perform 200 hours of community service at the Pine Street Inn or a veteran’s shelter; visit the historic African Meeting House in Boston; pay full restitution to the two victims for expenses related to the attack; continue with mental health treatment; and stay away from the two victims.

Spaulding was convicted of two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon for striking the two teenage girls inside the Park Street MBTA station in downtown Boston on Nov. 22, 2002.

Spurlock, who heard the jury-waived case, acquitted Spaulding of four civil rights and constitutional violations.

Spaulding was among a group of nine people who argued with three black teens inside the subway station.

During his trial, several people who had been with Spaulding testified that he never uttered a racial epithet during the confrontation, but his girlfriend did.

The witnesses said one of the black teens responded by pushing Spaulding’s girlfriend up against the wall, hitting her with a bottle and choking her. Read more »

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The Alabama Democratic Party Executive Committee wants Larry Darby, whose radical views include the belief that the Holocaust did not happen, to stay out of future Democratic Party primaries.

The executive committee passed a resolution Saturday telling Darby, who lost a race for the party’s nomination for attorney general, that “he is not welcome in the Alabama Democratic Party.”

Darby, former director of the Atheist Law Center in Montgomery, responded by saying the vote shows that the state party’s leadership is “intellectually and morally bankrupt.”

“This is the typical heavy handed behavior of the Alabama Democratic Party for the last 30 years,” Darby said. “They’re censoring me for having the wrong views.” Read more »

The state of Nebraska went to court Friday to keep a State Patrol trooper who belongs to a white supremacist group off the force.

At a news conference in Lincoln, state Attorney General Jon Bruning said the patrol had fired Robert Henderson in February, alleging conduct unbecoming an officer.

After a secret State Patrol investigation of Henderson, he was confronted with evidence that he was a member of the Knights Party, which has ties to the Ku Klux Klan.

Arbitrator Paul J. Caffera, a lawyer from New York, last week overturned Henderson’s firing, saying he was entitled to his First Amendment rights of free speech and that the state had failed to prove that Henderson’s private activities had reflected poorly on the patrol.

Where in the Constitution, or in the Bill of Rights, does it read that one’s personal freedoms can be overturned because of political affiliation? Are we not entitled to our beleifs, to worship and to pay fealty to the politics of our choice? The German government has confirmed reports that two German submarines have been sold to
Israel … Deputy government spokesman Thomas Steg said Friday the two Dolphin-class submarines, called U212s, were ordered in November 2005 but would only be delivered to Israel in 2010.

Steg also confirmed that the German government would finance a part of the sale.

Israel already has three German submarines — the most expensive weapon platforms in Israel’s arsenal.

Germany, which believes it has a historic responsibility to help Israel because of the mass murder of Jews in World War II, donated the first two submarines after the 1991
Gulf War.

It split the cost of the third with the Jewish state.

According to Jane’s Defence Weekly, the U212s are designed for a crew of 35, have a range of 4,500 kilometres (2,810 miles) and can launch cruise missiles carrying nuclear warheads.

Posts on two U.S.-based websites call for the “violent overthrow” of the Canadian government and the “extermination” of Jews in Canada.

Millions upon millions of internet users voluntarily post personal information about themselves and others on social-networking sites such as myspace.com which boosts over 80 million users. One should assume anything you write on line is stapled to your resume.

The technology cannot be stopped. Information is getting easier to obtain and merge together to draw inferences from. After all there is money to be made and the ability to control others. There really is not much one can do to stop it.

BEIRUT, Lebanon - Israeli commandos raided a Hezbollah stronghold deep in Lebanon on Saturday, engaging in a fierce gunbattle, and the Lebanese government threatened to halt further troop deployments to protest what U.N. officials called a violation of the 6-day-old cease-fire.

Israel said the raid was launched to stop arms smuggling from Iran and Syria to the militant Shiite fighters. An Israeli officer was killed during the raid, and two soldiers were wounded, one seriously.

There were no signs of further clashes, but the flare-up underlined worries about the fragility of the cease-fire as the U.N. pleaded for nations to send troops to an international force in southern Lebanon that is to separate Israeli and Hezbollah fighters.

The office of Secretary-General Kofi Annan issued a statement later Saturday labeling the operation a violation of the U.N. truce.

Yad Vashem this week warned that a fair in Iran showcasing entries to an contest for Holocaust cartoons was a “flashing red light” for enlightened nations.

The event in Tehran features 200 of the more than 1,000 entries to the international competition, called in February following the publication of cartoons featuring the prophet Mohammed.

A Yad Vashem statement said: “The exhibition of Holocaust cartoons in Iran, a nation that aspires to nuclear capabilities, and whose president has made genocidal statements against Israel, is a flashing red light signaling danger not only to Israel, but to all enlightened nations.”

Avner Shalev, Chairman of the Yad Vashem Directorate, said: ““The alarming silence of the world indicates that the West has not yet understood that what is taking place is an attack on Western values and civilization. History has demonstrated that silence in the face of evil statements, begets evil actions. Iran has said the cartoon exhibit is a ‘test of western tolerance’. The West must stand up, and say clearly: ‘This we will not tolerate’.”

Holocaust attorney Edward Fagan is already fighting to save his career. Now, a second front has opened up over his assets.

This week, Fagan lost a bid to end the involuntary bankruptcy proceeding against him in federal court. On Monday, Judge Novalyn Winfield, who sits in Newark, ruled the bankruptcy case could proceed.

Fagan, who is also in the midst of an attorney ethics hearing on charges of misusing client funds, had sought to dismiss the petition by exploring a loophole in the new bankruptcy law. Read more »

INDIANAPOLIS - Many potential young black leaders fall under the spell of the “gangster mentality” and are preventing themselves from making a positive impact in politics, the Rev. Al Sharpton said Thursday.

Sharpton, who is considering another run for president, faulted Hollywood and the record industry for making “gangsterism” seem cool and acceptable.

“We have got to get out of this gangster mentality, acting as if gangsterism and blackness are synonymous,” he said. “I think that challenge has to be given to Hollywood and the record industry. I think we’ve allowed a whole generation of young people to feel that if they’re focused, they’re not black enough. If they speak well and act well, they’re acting white, and there’s nothing more racist than that.”
