Pro-immigration movement fizzles out
May 2nd, 2008 under Immigration. [ Comments: 1 ]

mexican-crying19.jpgThe latest May Day rally by communists and immigrant activists has only revealed the writing on the wall:  The immigration movement has fizzled out and is on the decline.  They were at their strongest in 2006 and 2007 and did not accomplish their goal of getting Congress to take action.  With Congress not making a decision to give legal status to millions of illegals, many states and municipalities have taken it upon themselves to crack down on the illegal immigrants.  States like Oklahoma are disproving that immigrants help the economy.

As the US economy gets worse people are going to be less willing to help immigrants come and take our jobs and tax money.  WIth no economic relief in sight this will certainly be a major obstacle for the immigration activists.

Also the fact that immigration is not the biggest concern in election discussions, shows that the immigration movement has stalled and is declining.  With Americans being more concerned with our economy and the war, our interest in helping third worlders is reduced.

Border Patrol lets some illegals go — over and over again
May 2nd, 2008 under Immigration. [ Comments: 1 ]

illegal-border-crossing9.jpgEL PASO, Texas - Josefa Gonzalez Loya has sneaked across the Mexican border at least 128 times in the past eight years. And each time, the Border Patrol has been nice enough to give her a lift home.

Gonzalez and a group of other women and children — all Indians from the southern Mexican state of Oaxaca — have no interest in staying in the United States. All they want to do is panhandle outside El Paso businesses, using the children as lures.

At the end of a productive day, they wait for the Border Patrol to come pick them up and drive them back to the border. Read more »

Bush makes $70 billion request
May 2nd, 2008 under War Coverage. [ Comments: 1 ]

bushthumb218.JPGPresident Bush sent lawmakers a $70 billion request Friday to fund U.S. operations in Iraq and Afghanistan into next spring, which would give the next president breathing room to make his or her own war policy.

Friday’s request fills in the details of the $70 billion placeholder that the White House asked for when it sent its budget to Congress in February. The money is for the budget year that begins Oct. 1.

Congressional analysts say Bush’s request would bring the total spending since Sept. 11, 2001, to fight terrorism and conduct the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to $875 billion. Read more »

Memphis principal outs gay students
May 2nd, 2008 under Top Stories. [ Comments: 3 ]

blackfag23.jpgA Memphis high school principal, fed up with public displays of affection in the hallways, allegedly displayed a list of couples — including some who are gay — in the school, publicly outing the boys and violating their privacy, according to one of the students involved.

“I really feel that my personal privacy was invaded,” Nicholas, one of the young men who claims his sexuality was exposed without his approval by his principal, told ABC News’ Memphis affiliate Eyewitness News Everywhere. “I mean, Principal Beasley called my mother and outted me to my mother!” Read more »

Professor and black students battle over affirmative action
May 2nd, 2008 under Race. [ Comments: 4 ]

blackpower60.jpgOn bad days, there are no doubt plenty of professors who have joked about suing students. But it is pretty rare that somebody actually does so. A law professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock has — and the ramifications could extend well beyond his dispute.

The dispute over Peltz concerns his opposition to affirmative action — and how he expressed it. Complicating matters is that no one who was present when the statements were actually made is discussing them. Those Peltz sued did not respond to messages, and he was willing to e-mail only a very general discussion of what happened. In examples of the defamatory material that were submitted with his suit, however, the view of the black student organization about his actions becomes clear.

In a memo sent to Charles Goldner, dean of the law school, the students accuse Peltz of engaging in a “rant” about affirmative action, of saying that affirmative action helps “unqualified black people,” of displaying a satirical article from The Onion about the death of Rosa Parks, of allowing a student to give “incorrect facts” about a key affirmative action case, of passing out a form on which he asked for students’ name and race and linking this form to grades, and of denigrating black students in a debate about affirmative action, among other charges. Young man swindles military out of $200 million
May 2nd, 2008 under Hidden Crimes, War Coverage. [ Comments: 2 ]

efraim-diveroli-jewish-arms-swindler.jpg(CNN) — Efraim Diveroli’s father hoped his son would become “a nice Jewish doctor or lawyer”.

What he got instead is a 22-year-old international arms dealer who faces a congressional inquiry for allegedly selling old Chinese ammunition to the U.S. military to equip allies in Afghanistan.

Diveroli is president of AEY Inc., a South Florida company which, according to U.S. government documents, has done more than $10 million of business with the U.S. government since 2004.

The papers also reveal the company struck it big in 2007 with contracts totaling more than $200 million to supply ammunition, assault rifles and other weapons to the Afghan National Army and police. The company’s contract said it would get the ammunition from Hungary.

Rome’s new mayor promises purge of migrants
May 2nd, 2008 under Top Stories. [ Comments: 4 ]

rome-mayor-gianni-alemanno.jpgGianni Alemanno, 50, a firebrand neo-fascist and the first Right-wing mayor of the city since the Second World War, vowed to make Rome “secure” as he was sworn into office after his election at the weekend.

The election of Mr Alemanno confirmed a strong shift to the Right by Italians, who have been sickened by a spate of violent crimes committed by immigrants.

Earlier this month, the centre-Right leader Silvio Berlusconi was re-elected as prime minister and will form a government in partnership with Umberto Bossi, the leader of the anti-immigration Northern League.  MORE>>>

When is racist graffiti not a ‘hate crime’?
May 2nd, 2008 under Racial Double-Standards. [ Comments: 2 ]

black-gangsters-skinny.jpgDisturbing, gang-like graffiti is cropping up all over a Brooklyn elementary school, marring a playground, classrooms and two teachers’ cars, authorities said.

The troubling words “Jump White People” and abbreviation “JWP” have appeared at Public School 224 in East New York about a dozen times in the past three weeks, and some teachers are concerned that it’s not being taken seriously.

“It just quietly gets erased,” one teacher said. “Nothing gets done.” Read more »
