He didn’t act like someone who minutes earlier might have killed Philadelphia resident Edgar Rosas Gutierrez execution-style in Bensalem.
Instead, the suspect appeared calm and nonchalant in a silent security video taken by a New Jersey motel’s camera.
Wearing a Pittsburgh Pirates cap, he rested his head on the Comfort Inn’s counter. He then rifled through his pockets and counted out several bills from a large wad. He gestured with his hands to himself and to the balding, overnight hotel employee as he spoke. Read more »

A 14-year-old South Jersey girl was charged with first-degree murder Thursday following the discovery of her newborn child in a public toilet, authorities said.The girl, who was not identified by prosecutors because of her age, allegedly gave birth to a baby boy on Sunday in a restroom at the Cumberland County Fairgrounds. The body was discovered by a cleaning crew shortly before noon the next day.
As fiesta goers celebrated Cinco de Mayo outside, the Bridgeton girl delivered the child in a toilet bowl, said Ronald J. Casella, the county prosecutor. Read more »

A Buckeye man has been charged with kidnapping and sexual abuse after police said he held an 11-year-old girl against her will at his home.
Pedro Valadez was booked on one count each of kidnapping and sexual abuse. He is being held on $24,000 bond.
The victim said Valadez was a man she trusted and looked to as a grandfather figure, police said.Valadez invited the victim to his home last Thursday to do some chores that he was going to pay her for, police said. Read more »

A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy was charged today in Orange County with four counts of felony child molestation for allegedly touching an underage female relative in a lewd manner and engaging in sexual conversations with her, beginning when she was 8 or 9.
Ricky Hermosillo, 42, of Orange, faces one count of committing a lewd act on a child under the age of 14 and three felony count of lewd acts upon a child between the age of 14 and 15, said Farrah Emami of the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. Read more »

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — If there was a dumb criminal charge under Florida state law, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said they know who would get it — armed robbery suspect Stephon Busbee.
Police recently arrested Busbee, who they said caught himself with the help of a cell phone camera he allegedly stole.Authorities said Busbee was involved in an armed robbery that took place outside the Tailgate Bar and Grill across the street from Jacksonville Municipal Stadium a few weeks ago. BEX, Switzerland - A Swiss pilot strapped on a jet-powered wing and leaped from a plane Wednesday for the first public demonstration of the homemade device, turning figure eights and soaring high above the Alps.
Yves Rossy’s performance in front of the world press capped five years of training and many more years of dreaming.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that Israel’s days are numbered, adding the fake regime is despised by all regional nations.
Addressing the people of Gorgan in the northern Golestan province, Ahmadinejad said that the regional people won’t miss an opportunity to uproot this fake regime.

Immigrant family forgets toddler at airport |

An immigrant family left a 23-month-old boy in the Vancouver airport and learned he was missing only when contacted during the next leg of the trip.
Jun Parreno, the boy’s father, told The Vancouver Sun the mix-up occurred Monday as he, his wife and two grandparents of the child, J.M., were scrambling between their arrival in Canada and a connecting flight to Winnipeg on Air Canada.
Running late after having to unpack and repack all their luggage, “we had 10 minutes before boarding,” said Parreno, who was emigrating with his family from the Philippines. “We were running for the gate.”

Germany’s domestic intelligence agency has warned of “extremist structures” within the Left Party. A new report lists a number of left-wing extremist factions within the party, including the communist platform, the Marxist Forum and a pro-Cuba group.
The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution is responsible for monitoring political extremism in Germany. Among its main focuses are far-right extremists, far-left extremists, Islamist terrorists and the Scientology organization. According to the agency’s 2006 annual report — the most recent available — there are around 31,000 left-wing extremists in Germany, of whom around 6,000 are prepared to use violence to use violence to achieve their ends.
