In May 2008, President George W. Bush signed into law The Consolidated Natural Resources Act of 2008. Chinese mothers are using the law as a means to bring home their own ‘gold medal,’ a baby with American citizenship.

The Act enabled the United States to take over the labor and immigration system of Saipan, the largest island and capital of the U.S. Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). As a result, employers in Saipan are now allowed to apply for U.S. work visas for immigrant workers under the new act. Also, importantly, babies born in Saipan are now automatically U.S. citizens.

Many Chinese moved quickly to take advantage of the act. Immigration services in big Chinese cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Wuhan have started programs like “Labor Export to Saipan” and “Deliver an American Baby in Saipan.”

Expectant mothers pay anywhere from 140,000 to 240,000 RMB (about $20,000 to $35,000) for the service that allows them to deliver their babies in Saipan.

The dismembered body of a 17-year-old British girl has been found in a suitcase in Brazil.

Police say Cara Marie Burke was murdered by an ex-boyfriend she had threatened to expose as a drug-dealer.

Her torso was found in a suitcase dumped on a riverbank on Monday, but her head, arms and legs were missing after being thrown into the water.

Miss Burke’s body was reportedly identified by her mother, Ann, who was watching Brazilian TV from her home in Wandsworth, south London.

Police were said to be still searching for Miss Burke’s head and limbs, which Santos said he hid in a rural area about 20 miles outside Goiania. Read more »

While the politicians argue back and forth about who is responsible for the death of 19 US Soldiers, the faulty wiring continues to put them in harms way. A congressional report released Wednesday blames defense contractor KBR for the recent electrocution of a U.S. soldier in Iraq, in contradiction to what the Pentagon has said.

The report by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform shows that KBR knew about a defective water pump that killed Staff Sgt. Ryan Maseth in January 2008. Maseth, 22, died while showering at the Radwaniyah Palace Complex in Baghdad. A memo yesterday from the Pentagon’s inspector general had said KBR couldn’t have known that the shower was life-threatening. KBR, a subsidiary until last year of the oil services giant Halliburton, has received $20 billion in Iraq war contracts since the 2003 U.S. invasion. The contracts cover repair of Iraq’s infrastructure, including rewiring and re-plumbing the palace building where Meseth died. KBR recently won a share of a new 10-year, $150-billion contract to continue their rebuilding and reconstruction work. Source>>>

HOUSTON — A man was arrested on Tuesday, accused of bringing his 3-year-old son to a drive-by shooting in which the child was wounded, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Police said Phillip Leon Monroe spotted LaRelle Linton in front of the All Star Super Market, 11022 Cullen, on Saturday afternoon and opened fire.

Monroe had his 3-year-old son with him in a stolen car, officials said.

“Speaking with people out in the location, there was some type of disturbance earlier in the week between two groups of people and this may have spilled over and culminated in this shooting,” said Det. Barton Nabors with HPD Homicide. Read more »

GREER, S.C. — Greer police have released photos of a man who they said is a suspect in an early morning stabbing.

Police said that when a 30-year-old man, who was visiting his girlfriend in the 100 block of Irving Street, answered a knock at the door at about 3:30 a.m., he was attacked and stabbed.

The injured man went to a neighbor’s home and called police.

The woman said she ran away from the scene with a cordless phone, trying to call police, and the attacker followed her and grabbed the phone before he fled the scene.The injured man was transported to Spartanburg Regional Hospital where he was listed as stable. Read more »

Friedhelm Busse former SS soldier, and political activist died at age 79 of cancer. Incredibly:  The district attorney’s office has ordered the grave of the deceased to be opened to make sure there is no Nazi flag inside!  Thomas “Steiner” Wulff had spread the flag on Saturday on the coffin dropped in the grave.  Now he faces criminal charges.

In addition it was the specific wish of the deceased to be buried with such a flag.  As if it was not enough that the German government jailed this war hero they were “nice enough” to send some armed guards to monitor his hospital room, to make sure he did not leave, but they did send his family a bill for the service!

Friedhelm penance had died at the past Tuesday at the age of 79 years.  At the age of 16 years it fought in the SS against the advancing allies.  It was later in different national parties where he became active, among other things a chairperson for the later forbidden FAP.  approximately 100 nationalists came to the funeral on Saturday.  Eleven of them subsequently were arrested, under that also Thomas “Steiner” Wulff, because of the spread flag.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Fort Bragg sergeant charged in the death of a pregnant soldier was the father of her unborn baby but married to someone else, police said Wednesday.

Fayetteville Police Chief Tom Bergamine said during a news conference that Sgt. Edgar Patino, 27, admitted fathering Spc. Megan L. Touma’s baby. Touma, 23, was seven months pregnant when found dead in a motel bathtub last month.

Patino, who was arrested at his home Tuesday, acknowledged being in Touma’s hotel room June 13, the last day her hotel room key was used, police said. He made his first court appearance Wednesday and asked for a public defense attorney, but one was not immediately assigned.  MORE>>>

JERUSALEM - Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert announced Wednesday he will resign in September, throwing his country into political turmoil and raising doubts about progress for U.S.-backed Mideast peace efforts.

Olmert’s brief address, given at his official Jerusalem residence, included harsh criticism of corruption investigations against him. He said he was choosing the public good over his personal justice. He has consistently denied wrongdoing but pledged to resign if indicted.

Appearing angry and reading from a prepared text, Olmert said, “I was forced to defend myself against relentless attacks from self-appointed ‘fighters for justice’ who sought to depose me from my position, when the ends sanctified all the means.”   MORE>>>

The mother of a missing 2-year-old Florida girl was caught by photographers partying at a club June 20 — after the date she claims her daughter disappeared. The photographs, obtained by FOX News, show Casey Anthony smiling and posing with various people at an Orlando club called Fusion. She later would tell police that her daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony, had been missing since earlier in the month. When Anthony and her family first reported Caylee’s disappearance on July 15, she told police police the girl had been missing for a month. She also claimed that Caylee had been taken by a baby sitter, who also vanished. SOURCE>>>>

LOS ANGELES - City officials are putting South Los Angeles on a diet. The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to place a moratorium on new fast food restaurants in an impoverished swath of the city with a proliferation of such eateries and above average rates of obesity.

The yearlong moratorium is intended to give the city time to attract restaurants that serve healthier food. The action, which the mayor must still sign into law, is believed to be the first of its kind by a major city to protect public health.

“Our communities have an extreme shortage of quality foods,” City Councilman Bernard Parks said.   MORE>>>

FORT MYERS: The Fort Myers Police Department, with the help of other law enforcement agencies, made a major methamphetamine bust that included a local car dealer and is linked across state and country.A lengthy investigation culminated with the arrest of six individuals and the seizure of six pounds of crystal meth that has a street value of about $140,000, authorities said.

“The officers here in Fort Myers, we stop hundreds of cars a day and do searches. How many times do we come up with crystal meth? Not many,” said Sergeant Jay Rodriguez of the Fort Myers Police Department. Read more »

In that particular episode of the hyper-benevolent reality show, which first aired in February 2005, it took 1,800 volunteers a week to demolish the house with the overflowing septic tank that belonged to Milton and Patricia Harper of Lake City, Ga., and then entirely rebuild a new, larger house, while the Harpers and their three children went away to Disneyland. When they returned, they had the biggest house on Ahyoka Drive, with all the appliances and furnishings, plus enough money to pay taxes on it for decades, plus a fund to send their children to college.

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) — The AIDS epidemic among African-Americans in some parts of the United States is as severe as in parts of Africa, according to a report out Tuesday.

“Left Behind - Black America: A Neglected Priority in the Global AIDS” is intended to raise awareness and remind the public that the “AIDS epidemic is not over in America, especially not in Black America,” says the report, published by the Black AIDS Institute, an HIV/AIDS think tank focused exclusively on African-Americans.

“AIDS in America today is a black disease,” says Phill Wilson, founder and CEO of the institute and himself HIV-positive for 20 years. “2006 CDC data tell us that about half of the just over 1 million Americans living with HIV or AIDS are black.”

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - A former dormitory matron charged with abuse at U.S. talk show host Oprah Winfrey’s girls academy in South Africa on Tuesday pleaded not guilty.

Virginia Mokgobo, 27, arrested in November and out on bail, is facing charges relating to common assault, harassment and soliciting a minor to perform indecent acts and verbal abuse. She appeared in Sebokeng magistrate court, south of Johannesburg on Tuesday. Read more »

POSTVILLE, Iowa - Scores of Somali immigrants are taking jobs at the nation’s largest kosher meatpacking plant, replacing Hispanic workers arrested in a huge immigration raid and forcing a remote Iowa town to make another cultural shift.

Before the May 12 raid at Agriprocessors, hundreds of Mexican and Guatemalan immigrants maintained a vibrant community in Postville, a largely white community of 2,200 people in northeast Iowa.

CHICAGO - Community leaders on Monday called on students from poorer parts of Chicago to protest inequalities in school funding by skipping the first day of classes.

State Sen. James Meeks wants students to spend Sept. 2 trying to enroll in a suburban school district that spends much more per student than Chicago Public Schools does. Critics of the planned protest say it will send the wrong message to children and undermine campaigns to get as many students as possible to attend the first day of classes in the nation’s third-largest school district. The Dallas Housing Authority soon will begin accepting applications for court-ordered rental assistance available to black residents who want to live in predominantly white neighborhoods.

The DHA is required to offer the vouchers only to blacks as part of a court settlement to address past discrimination. And the agency could not find enough takers on its general waiting list for rent assistance, which includes 8,000 applicants of all races. Read more »

The Bush administration’s recent diplomatic overtures toward Iran have unleashed a torrent of criticism from neoconservatives and have fueled concerns in Israel that Washington is shelving the option of using military force against Tehran’s nuclear facilities.

After months of rejecting the possibility of negotiating with Iran until it suspends nuclear enrichment, the administration sent a high-level envoy July 20 to European-led talks with Iranian diplomats on the nuclear issue. Washington also has suggested a willingness to open a low-level diplomatic mission in Tehran for the first time since 1979. Phoenix — At first glance, Mayor Phil Gordon’s office in downtown Phoenix looks like that of any other mayor, replete with photos of his kids and a sweeping view of the city. In the case of Arizona’s capital, that means rolling desert hills. But in an otherwise sparsely decorated workspace, one detail stands out: a silver tray of Israeli shekels atop the coffee table.

Gordon is the first Jewish mayor of Phoenix, one of America’s fastest-growing cities. A chocolate bar advertisement featuring Mr T has been taken off the air after accusations that it is ‘homophobic’.

In the Snickers commercial, Mr T – who played BA Baracus in the 1980s show The A Team – pulls up in a truck alongside a man exercising in tight yellow shorts and shouts: ‘Speed walking. I pity you fool. You are a disgrace to the man race. It’s time to run like a real man.’

He then forces the man to break into a sprint by taking pot shots at him with a Snickers machine gun. The commercial ends with Mr T uttering the slogan to the current Snickers campaign – ‘Get some nuts’.

The commercial, which premiered in the UK on July 13, was made by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO – the same agency responsible for a Heinz Deli Mayo advert withdrawn last month after showing two men kissing.

A Harlem man who said he witnessed a display of police racial insensitivity last week was arrested Saturday, according to police reports.

Police arrested Clarence Jones, 28, on counts of opposition to government authority and disorderly conduct Saturday morning, authorities said.

According to reports, police attempted to issue Mr. Jones a court summons for his Lincoln Navigator, which was parked illegally on 116th Street and Madison Avenue. Mr. Jones reportedly appeared on the scene, said the car was his, got inside, and drove away. Police followed him to 116th and Fifth Avenue, where they stopped the car. Read more »

These guys will get in more trouble for this graffiti than for violent crimes committed by non-whites.  Isn’t all graffiti meant to be threatening?  Is MS-13 graffiti latino supremacist?

Around August 2007, a significant amount of white supremacist type graffiti began appearing in the Greenlawn Neighborhood of Camarillo. This area includes streets such as Greenvale Court, Greenvale Drive, and Greenglade Court.  Distinctive swastikas were included in this graffiti.  This same graffiti later appeared in another housing tract east of this location.  Investigators were ultimately led to Matthew McCasland as a result of these facts and others.

In December of 2007, investigators tracked additional distinctive white supremacist graffiti in another area residential of Camarillo that led them to identify Patrick Berndtson as a suspect. Read more »

MADISON, Wis. — A state appeals court has upheld a hate crime enhancer against three people accused of using racial slurs against black people.

Victoria Lee Trappe, Anthony Michael Welda and Timothy Robert Wagner were charged in 2006 with disorderly conduct with the hate crime enhancer attached.

They’re accused of using racial slurs in front of two black children, their father and his friend in Janesville. At one point Wagner allegedly waved a Confederate flag around. Read more »

PHILADELPHIA — An interracial couple living in Northeast Philadelphia said they are victims of a hate crime. The home of Dionne and David Greene was vandalized on Wednesday.The damage included white paint thrown on the hardwood floors, racial slurs painted on the walls and windows and light bulbs broken throughout the house.

“I’m angry and I’m bitter,” said David Greene. “This is America. This is Philadelphia, the cradle of freedom.” Read more »

BEIJING — China and Russia on Saturday agreed to strengthen a strategic partnership by expanding their cooperation in projects including oil trading, pipeline construction, explorations and nuclear power.

“The first round of talks have achieved some positive results,” Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishang said Saturday during his meeting with visiting Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

Premier Wen Jiabao, who also met with Sechin, is boosting ties with Russia in order to meet his country’s energy needs.

Why isn’t the FBI after this cyber terrorist? 

A group calling itself the Jewish Internet Defense Force (JIDF) hacked into a Facebook group called, ”Israel” is not a country!… … Delist it from Facebook as a country!” early Sunday morning, erasing thousands of members’ names from the site. The JIDF was founded by an American Jew in response to a terrorist attack that took the lives of eight young yeshiva students in Jerusalem earlier this year.

“This is a major victory against Jew haters,” proclaimed a JIDF source who spoke on condition of anonymity. The source said the group “goes after Jew-hating internet sites.” More than 4,000 names were deleted from the anti-Semitic “Israel is not a country!” group’s database by the hackers. Read more »

LEE COUNTY: A man wanted for three murders in Puerto Rico was arrested at an apartment complex in East Fort Myers Monday morning.The U.S. Marshals Service, with the help of the Fort Myers Fugitive Task Force, arrested Edwin Sanchez-Rijos at the Jones-Walker apartments at 2909 Blount Street.

Information gathered during an investigation in Puerto Rico led Marshals to Sanchez-Rijos, who was taken down without incident. Read more »

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - British tycoon Richard Branson on Monday unveiled a futuristic aircraft that will ferry tourists to the edge of the heavens as part of Virgin Galactic’s much-anticipated space program.

The aircraft — WhiteKnightTwo — was rolled out for media and invited guests, including Apollo 11 astronaut Buzz Aldrin, at an early morning ceremony in the Mojave desert north of Los Angeles.

The high-altitude aircraft, also named “Eve” in honor of Branson’s mother, will act as the mothership for the spacecraft Spaceship Two, which in turn will launch in midair and send two crew and six passengers hurtling into space. Read more »

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. - A New Jersey legislator resigned Monday amid reports that he’s under investigation for suspected possession of child pornography.

The clerk of the Assembly received a one-sentence letter from Assemblyman Neil Cohen just before 9:30 a.m. Monday. Cohen said his resignation is effective immediately, but he did not offer any explanation.

RALEIGH - Shoppers strolled peacefully through Triangle Town Center on Sunday after a Saturday night brawl involving hundreds closed the mall early.It took police officers from three agencies an hour to evacuate the mall and fully restore order after the fight in which seven teens were detained, a 15-year-old was stabbed and a police officer injured.

Raleigh Police Department spokesman Jim Sughrue said the brawl was a gang-related incident and that some of those involved have known gang associations. He declined to say whether those arrested are gang members. Read more »

LAKE CITY, Fla. — Three days after a 59-year-old store clerk was shot and killed during a robbery of a convenience store just off Interstate 10, Columbia County’s sheriff released surveillance video he called disturbing that shows the crime.

After receiving permission of the victim’s family and an enhancement of the video from the store’s security system, the 40-second clip shows the fatal shooting from three angles.The gunman is clearly seen entering the Joy America Grocery Store, shooting Linda Raulerson once in the arm, then demanding all the money from the cash register.
