SHAKOPEE, Minn. — A group of seven young men face assault charges for allegedly attacking a father who stood up for his 12-year-old daughter after the men grabbed the girl’s butt at Valleyfair.

Shakopee police say the man’s daughter was confronted by the around midnight as crowds exited the amusement park on the Fourth of July.

Shakopee police Sgt. Jay Arras said. the man and his family were leaving Valleyfair around when a man “tried to grab the 12-year-old girl in a sexual manner.”

A ”well-liked” Pines Middle School band teacher was arrested Monday morning on charges he fondled the breasts of a 14-year-old girl who considered him to be a mentor, police said.

Russell Pittman, 46, of Sunrise, was charged after the girl confronted him and police recorded his phone conversation with the girl in which he professed his love for her. He is facing two charges of lewd and lascivious molestation.

Pittman, who has held his $56,000-a-year post for the Broward School District since 1988, will be reassigned to a job away from students when classes resume in August, said Joe Melita, the district’s chief investigator. Read more »

The wife of Fort Lauderdale’s police chief sent her husband a text message asking where his gun was before she opened fire on him July 8, according to a search warrant obtained Wednesday.

Plantation police recovered 62 text messages between Eleanor Adderley and Fort Lauderdale Police Chief Frank Adderley to “show the knowledge and intent” of the shooter, the warrant says. The messages were sent around the time of the shooting, but the warrant did not list specific times.

Eleanor Adderley, 45, was arrested July 9 on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and firing a gun inside a dwelling after police say she shot at her husband in their Plantation home. BERLIN — A mother in Germany has given birth to a set of rare black and white twins.

Little Leo looks like his mother with dark skin. His brother, Ryan, looks more like his father with light-colored skin.

An airline employee was arrested at Miami International Airport on Wednesday after he allegedly tried to get through a security checkpoint with a gun, authorities said.Andryl Billu, 21, works for American Eagle airlines. MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) — Police have arrested a South Florida man accused of a hate crime against a rabbi.

Police said 49-year-old Pichardo Dearmas was on his bicycle when he began shouting anti-Semitic slurs at a rabbi who was walking along the Venetian Causeway. “He lifted his hand, and he was yelling something out loud like ‘you Jew,’ or something like that, and I simply continued walking and I ignored it,” said the rabbi, who was not identified.

Former UFC light-heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson was admitted to a hospital on Wednesday for a mental health evaluation following an incident in which he was exhibiting “unusual behavior,” Irvine, Calif., police Lt. Rick Handfield told NBCSports.com on Thursday.

This incident came on the heels of Tuesday’s arrest following a car chase in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Handfield said that a passing officer was flagged down on a city street at about 4:30 pm on Wednesday, and one of the people at the residence who was an acquaintance or relative of Jackson’s told police they were “concerned about some alarming statements and unusual behavior he was exhibiting.”   MORE>>>

Andy Dick was arrested early Wednesday for investigation of drug use and sexual battery after the comedian allegedly pulled down a teenager’s top, police said.

Nearly 100 police recruits about to graduate from Philadelphia’s Police Academy will travel to Washington, D.C., Tuesday to visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.”We already have a block of instruction that deals with ethics, and this will expand upon it,” said Capt.
