HAMILTON, OH — An illegal immigrant in Butler County was arrested on Wednesday after she walked into the Sheriff’s Office looking to apply for a job.

Police say Genesis Mahelet Garcia-Garcia, 25, wanted to obtain a background check for the purpose of gaining employment.

He went to the public assistance window and filled out the paperwork using a fraudulent name and date of birth.

She then passed a fraudulent Illinois Identification Card and Social Security Card to the clerk. The clerk immediately recognized the cards as fraudulent.

Garcia was questioned about the cards and admitted to purchasing them for $180 two years ago, then essentially assuming the identity of the individual. Read more »

STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. — Atlanta rapper Lil Scrappy, whose real name is Darryl Richardson, was injured Friday night in a stabbing in DeKalb County. Authorities said the incident happened shortly after 7 p.m. at the Mountain Crest Apartments in the 1000 block of North Hairston Road in Stone Mountain.A DeKalb County police spokesman said the 24-year-old Conyers rapper received a call from his sister stating she had been involved in an argument with her boyfriend. Authorities said Richardson went to his sister’s apartment and became involved in an altercation with his sister’s boyfriend. Authorities said the rapper was stabbed.He was listed in stable condition Saturday.Authorities said the boyfriend was not arrested. Authorities said they also took Richardson into custody for felony possession of marijuana, felony possession of a firearm/knife, and obstruction of officers. The only thing worse for the economy of an African nation than printing money like mad, is not printing money like mad.

According to a Los Angeles Times article “It has come to this: Zimbabwe is about to run out of the paper to print money on. Fidelity Printers & Refiners, the state-owned company that tirelessly churns out bank notes for the Robert Mugabe regime, was thrown into a crisis early this month after a German company stopped supplying bank note paper because of concerns over Zimbabwe’s recent violent presidential election, widely seen as fraudulent by international observers… The printing operation drastically slowed. Two-thirds of the 1,000-strong workforce was ordered to go on leave, and two of the three money-printing shifts were canceled. The result on the streets was an immediate cash crunch. ‘If you think this currency shortage is bad, wait two weeks. By then it will be a disaster,’ said a senior Fidelity staffer, who spoke to The Times on condition of anonymity because he would face dismissal and possible violence for talking to a Western journalist. MANATEE COUNTY (Bay News 9) – Two teenagers have been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting Sunday night.

Deputies say Lakewood Ranch High School football player Timothy Brooks, 18, and Cody Rogers, also 18, robbed and killed William White Jr. Sunday night.

PITTSBURGH - An autopsy on a woman’s body found in an apartment linked to a mystery newborn baby found that the woman was partially eviscerated and her uterus was cut open, authorities said Saturday.

The body was found Friday in an apartment of another woman who showed up at a hospital with a newborn she falsely claimed was hers.

Investigators were trying to determine the woman’s identity, how she died and whether she was the mother of the baby that Andrea Curry-Demus allegedly told police she bought for $1,000.   MORE>>>

WASHINGTON [MENL] — Israel’s military has requested fuel from the United
States.
The U.S. Defense Department said Israel has requested unleaded gasoline,
JP-8 aviation jet fuel and diesel fuel for military operations. The
department’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency said the request was valued
at $1.3 billion.
“The proposed sale of the JP-8 aviation fuel will enable Israel to
maintain the operational capability of its aircraft inventory,” the agency
said. “The unleaded gasoline and diesel fuel will be used for ground forces’
vehicles and other equipment used in keeping peace and security in the

DES MOINES, Iowa — Religious leaders and immigration reform advocates claim the human suffering caused by a raid on a Postville meatpacking plant continues and officials are ignoring the problem.

The May 12 raid at Agriprocessors Inc., the nation’s largest kosher meatpacking plant, has left dozens of women unable to work and support their children, forcing them to rely on handouts from local churches, several people said Wednesday on a conference call arranged by an immigration reform group.

“These conditions clearly violate core human and religious values of our country,” said Gideon Aronoff, CEO of the New York-based Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society. Read more »

Decades of white flight transformed America’s cities. That era is drawing to a close.

In Washington, a historically black church is trying to attract white members to survive. Atlanta’s next mayoral race is expected to feature the first competitive white candidate since the 1980s. San Francisco has lost so many African-Americans that Mayor Gavin Newsom created an “African-American Out-Migration Task Force and Advisory Committee” to help retain black residents.

“The city is experiencing growth, yet we’re losing African-American families disproportionately,” Mr. Newsom says. When that happens, “we lose part of our soul.”

For much of the 20th century, the proportion of whites shrank in most U.S. cities. In recent years the decline has slowed considerably — and in some significant cases has reversed. Between 2000 and 2006, eight of the 50 largest cities, including Boston, Seattle and San Francisco, saw the proportion of whites increase, according to Census figures. The previous decade, only three cities saw increases.

SHENANDOAH, Pennsylvania —  Luis Ramirez came to the U.S. from Mexico six years ago to look for work, landing in this town in Pennsylvania’s coal region. Here, he found steady employment, fathered two children and, his fiancee said, occasionally endured harassment by white residents.

Now he is headed back to Mexico in a coffin.

The 25-year-old illegal immigrant was beaten over the weekend after an argument with a group of youths, including at least some players on the town’s high school football team, police said. Despite witness reports that the attackers yelled ethnic slurs, authorities say the beating wasn’t racially motivated.
