Senate slavery apology: A minority view

Last month, the U.S. Senate passed Senate Resolution 26 “Apologizing for the enslavement and racial segregation of African-Americans.” The resolution ends with: “Disclaimer. — Nothing in this resolution (a) authorizes or supports any claim against the United States; or (b) serves as a settlement of any claim against the United States.” That means Congress apologizes but is not going to pay reparations, at least for now.

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus have expressed concerns about the disclaimer, thinking that it’s an attempt to stave off reparations claims from the descendants of slaves. Congressional Black Caucus Chairwoman Barbara Lee, D-Calf. , said her organization is studying the language of the resolution and Rep. Bernnie Thomson, D-Miss., said “putting a disclaimer takes away from the meaning of an apology. A number of us are prepared to vote against it in its present form. There are several members of the Progressive Caucus who feel the same way.”

It goes without saying that slavery was a gross violation of human rights. Justice would demand that all the perpetrators—-that includes slave owners, African and Arab slave sellers—-make compensatory reparation payments to its victims. Since slaves, slave owners and slave sellers are no longer with us, such compensation is beyond our reach and a matter to be settled in the world beyond.

Absent from the reparations debate is: Who Pays?

Don’t say the government because the government doesn’t have any money that it doesn’t first take from some American. So which Americans owe black people what? Reparations advocates don’t want that question asked but let’s you and I.

Are millions of Europeans, Asians, and Latin Americans who immigrated legally to the U.S. in the 20th century responsible for slavery and should be forced to cough up reparations money? What about descendants of Northern whites who fought and died in the name of freeing slaves? Should they cough up reparations money for black Americans?

What about non-slave owning Southern whites, a majority of whites; should they be made to pay reparations?

And by the way, would President Obama, whose father is Kenyan and mother white, be eligible for a reparations payment?   CONTINUE>>

Is the Black Caucus going to pass a resolution thanking White people for ending slavery?? Whites no longer use Jew captured negros as slaves. White people put an end to that practice and it cost a lot of White people their lives. Whites have yet to hear, “Thank you”.

Isn’t it about time we got a “THANK YOU”???

Sorry John. It will be a cold day in hell before that happens.

Thier own people in africa are the ones that initially sold them into slavery, yet they arent demanding anything from that continent. They know they cant get anything from them so they keep raising hell here for a cash handout.

I had family members on both sides of the civil war and if my family history is true, never owned a slave (the Southern family members went in the army not to keep slaves, but to repel invading soldiers from thier home state)

My biggest question is this…I had NOTHING to do with slavery so WHY should I give the lazy good for nothing scum my money?

Mr. Negro! Slavery was a small price for American citizenship!
And by the way, educate yourselves; 99.9% of the slave ships were owned and financed by Jews! All profits made from auctioning slaves was made by the Jews. Over 90% of households having slaves were Jewish.
If you want someone to blame, point the finger in the right place.
You have been duped by Mr. Jew. He is using you as his pawn against the White Man.
Dr. Tony Martin spelled it out for you, google him, and please inform yourself of the truth, as I am damn sick and tired of your and your peoples whinning!
Back to Africa! It’s your land, all yours, go back and create this empire of which you and your people claim to have the ability to build.
    Make my day!

    @ John Tarus

No, we’ll never get a thank you or be given any king of respect until we start acting like our ancestors and be hostile to those who are hostile to us.

The brown people and the Jews could care less about what happened hundreds of years ago. “Longer memories” my ass, I guess that’s why most minorities act just like their white hosts in the rat race of materialism. They are passionate when it is convenient for their financial benefit.

The main reason they hate us is because they have a consuming jealousy of us. They are the ones with an inferiority complex. They are jealous of our peoples accomplishments, our civilization, even our own women.

If an average middle-class white asked “Do you envy me?” to a minority acquaintance you would be surprised how many would say yes. Even the wealthiest Jew might say so, how many times have you seen a Jewish comedian complain about their schizophrenic families, especially their wives/mothers?

They shoulda fought harder, then they wouldn’t have been enslaved in the first place! I can garuantee that Americans won’t be enslaved!

it amazes me at the audacity of some politicians. even apologizing was too much. no one alive today had ANYTHING to do with slavery, so it should be a dead issue. but the jigs wont let it die until we are working to buy them watermelon and weed. and that is the direction our country is heading. if the whites continue to feel guilty for something we didnt do, and the blacks keep wanting pay-back for something they didnt give, then our roles will soon be reversed. this has to stop now!
