MANSFIELD, Ohio — Several city offices will be closed Monday after someone threw an explosive device through a second-floor window at the municipal building. The explosion occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m. at the Mansfield City Building, located near the corner of Diamond and Park streets, 10TV’s Patrick Bell reported.  No one was injured, but a small fire from the device turned on the building’s sprinkler system, causing some water damage to offices.

Investigators said that they believe they know who set a fire at the city’s municipal building early Monday, causing a significant amount of damage. Dye, 40, was due in court on Wednesday on several charges for obstructing official business, drug abuse, fleeing an officer and failing to wear a seat belt, 10TV News reported.  According to police, Dye is considered dangerous. In addition to aggravated arson, Dye is also facing a charge of manufacturing a dangerous ordnance, U.S. Marshals said.

The fire occurred at about 12:45 a.m. Police said that several incendiary devices were thrown into the municipal court offices, located on Diamond Street.

Both of the municipal court judges whose offices were behind those windows were placed under police protection, 10TV’s Glenn McEntyre reported.

Dye, 40, faces charges of aggravated arson and manufacturing of a dangerous ordinance in connection with firebombing that occurred Monday shortly before 1 a.m.

Police announced Tuesday that they have captured the man suspected of firebombing the city’s municipal building.

I still don’t see how they consider this a Firebombing(water logging maybe)…..what did someone tape a firecracker to a rock and throw it through a window setting something on fire. I know he did it because of the seat belt violation….PLEASE Go to the actual news story and read the comments…..

Well, it seems there is a new saying now, you can’t beat city hall, but you can blow it up.

It’s called firebombing because he used some sort of incendiary device, but the sprinklers put it out.

Fire is hard to start, especially in a public building which has stricter fire codes, you couple that with the massive amount of water that the sprinkler system puts out and he pretty much didn’t have a chance at all, even if he was hurling molativ’s

I think it’s pointless to attack a court, it may feel right because they do such a crappy job putting away criminals, but if you burn the place down, you prevent them from being sentenced, even if it’s a short sentence, it’s better than them being on the street.

I like when you post stories like this cause it reminds us that we need to do some interior cleaning.

Let’s not forget, he firebombed for his own personal drug using cause, not for the movement, not to prove any point other than he feels bad ass. Lone warrior of one gains the support of none.
