American Made Anti Communist Propaganda Cartoon from 1948

Posted on 07. Apr, 2010 by Shera Crossan in Audio-Video, Education, Politics, Shera Crossan

An animated anti-communist film produced by the US in 1948, this is funny stuff and the quality of the animation considering it was produced by a college is absolutely awesome.

I don’t see what is so great about this, really.

It marks the point when America became more about a model of economic and personal freedom than a White Anglo Saxon Protestant homeland. It was the point at which America “became international” in spirit to thwart the spread of communism’s internationalism internationally. This was, of course, the beginning of the end…because you cannot have both. You cannot claim to be free and open to everything in one breath and remain dedicated to preserving the country’s moral, religious and ethnic heritage; you cannot boast about being multiethnic and religiously diverse, as the film does, and then show a 99% white demographic and touch upon important Christian themes, as the film also does.

The Germans were right. While the film’s narrator runs his mouth about a free and open society, ethnic quotas remain strictly in place, minorities are being put in separate military ranks, redlining and mortgage discrimination is taking place, black are being sent to seperate schools and discriminated against privately and in the occupational field.

That the “other Americans”, the ones who were unwanted – and perhaps only there because of the slave trade, indigenousness, etc. – eventually stood up to this hypocrisy and challenged the WASP foundation of the nation is, in retrospect, no surprise at all. And the fact that America began to bend towards them so they wouldn’t align with (and become tools of) the communist enemy should have been foreseeable, too.

And so where are we today? In the midst of a low-profile political war to control the country and in the midst of a culture war…as whites become the minority and white youth learn to reject WASP-ism in favor of whatever the others have to offer.
