Three small-town eighth-graders in Minnesota were suspended by their principal for not standing Thursday morning for the Pledge o Allegiance, violating a district policy that the principal now say may soon be rewarded to protect free speech rights.

The head of the Minnesota American Civil Liberties Union said that the school’s actions against the students are unconstitutional and his office has informed the district of that today in a strongly worded letter. “The school can’t do that; that’s illegal, “said Chuck Samuelson, the civil liberties group executive director. “Wow.”

Samuelson said that numerous U.S. Court rulings dating back to the 1940s say in “well-settled constitutional law” that students who refuse to participate in the pledge cannot be punished for refusing to participate.” STORY>>>

German Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble shut down two far-right organizations on grounds that they deny the Holocaust took place.

The minister accused the groups of being “reservoirs of organized Holocaust deniers” who distribute anti-Semitic propaganda and praise the Nazis over the Internet.

Authorities raided 30 locations looking for evidence early on Wednesday, May 7, taking evidence with them, a statement from Schaeuble said.

BERLIN (Reuters) - A ban in Germany on Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf should be lifted so the book can be published with editorial comments, a Jewish leader said on Friday.

“I’m basically in favour of the book being made publicly accessible with annotation,” Stephan Kramer, general secretary of Germany’s Central Council of Jews, told German radio.

The parents of a 10-year-old boy who was handcuffed and placed in the back seat of a police cruiser for being too noisy intend to file a complaint against Ottawa police today, alleging that at least one officer went too far in the way he treated their son.

Thomasz and Santana Gurzynski say police drew their firearms before entering their Norberry Crescent apartment and scratched the back of their son, Lucasz, while forcing him to sit down for questioning without an adult present.

Mrs. Gurzynski, 35, believes it was an overreaction by police, who were responding to a neighbour’s complaint that the Grade 5 student and five friends were playing video games too loudly and play fighting with wooden sticks. Read more »

Brigitte Bardot is back on trial in France, facing charges of fanning discrimination and racial hatred against Muslims.

In a Paris court hearing Tuesday, prosecutors said they are seeking a two-month suspended prison sentence and a $23,900 fine against the former screen siren and animal rights campaigner.

The increasing presence of KSS activities in the surrounding communities of North Eastern Pennsylvania, combined with public support against the recent Times Leader newspaper article attacking our banner reading “Preserve our Heritage” as racist, has forced the paper to publicly retract their original statement.

The statement reads as follows:

“An article published on page 1A Monday about a banner that was placed on the Market Street Bridge needs clarification. Our story incorrectly said the message on the banner, which reads “Preserve Our Heritage,” was racist. The story should have said the Web site printed on the bottom of the banner directs people to the Keystone State Skinheads, a self-proclaimed “white nationalist” organization.”

Kennedy Boone has acknowledged that his comments suggested racial and sexual bias. BRATTLEBORO — Brattleboro residents will vote at town meeting on whether President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney should be indicted and arrested for war crimes, perjury or obstruction of justice if they ever step foot in Vermont.
The Brattleboro Select Board voted 3-2 Friday to put the controversial item on the Town Meeting Day warning.
According to Town Clerk Annette Cappy, organizers of the Bush-Cheney issue gathered enough signatures, and it was up to the Select Board whether Brattleboro voters would consider the issue in March. Read more »

Gumina saw nothing in the sequence of letters and the numeral 8 except a sequence of letters and the numeral eight. Others did.
“I would be at a grocery store or the Wal-Mart and people would say ‘Hate Jews?’ or ‘Jew Hater?’ and I had no idea what they were talking about,” Gumina said Friday.

The policy of no platform has been well and truly undermined following the successful appearance of BNP leader Nick Griffin [and historian David Irving] at the Oxford Union.

Invited by the Union’s debating society to discuss the issue of free speech Mr. Griffin was able to address a packed chamber of around two hundred students and academics.

The evening was partially delayed as a baying mob of 1000 agitators bussed in from all over England tried to prevent ticket-holders entering the historic building. No arrests were made and the police failed to contain a violent gang of around 30 thugs who managed to get inside the Union building. 11/25/07 Philadelphia, PA - A few members of the KSS took the time to attend this year’s Mayfair/Holmesburg Thanksgiving Parade, a local community event that gave us the perfect opportunity to put a real face to our fliers, which have been cropping up all across the North East.

Taking the conditions of NE Philadelphia into consideration and the lack of attention being brought to it, the overwhelming amount of positive responses we continue to receive from our actions should come as no surprise. But nonetheless they still do and it’s absolutely amazing. As we walked along side the parade route handing out our fliers, touching on the real issues effecting our area, most of our neighbors were already familiar with us. Quite a few had recognized us from the “American Skinheads” documentary recently aired on the National Geographic Channel and welcomed us with firm hand shakes and words of praise. With a few hundred fliers, a few dozen cds on hand and some time to kill on a typical Friday night, members of the KSS and friends set out to a local hardcore show in the N.E section of Philadelphia. Dominated by white youths the show proved to be an excellent environment to talk with younger people about the problems taking place in our schools and throughout our communities. Without a single negative response we were approached throughout the night by numerous kids asking for more literature and information. Many of them whom had recently been attacked by blacks and various non-white gangs in their very own neighborhoods, which has become a common occurrence through out the North East. Read more »

Several police departments in various Florida counties are going high tech and arming their patrol cars with cameras that are hooked up to a new license plate recognition system. As a patrol car drives through traffic these handy devices scan the vehicles in and around the police officer’s vehicle. The recognition software then records the license plate numbers in a database, and then checks that information against a stolen vehicle registry as well as gives the officer the ability to see if the vehicle belongs to a fugitive or a sexual predator. This new surveillance system is possible due to the generosity of the automobile insurance industry in an effort to “protect you.”

GERMANY — According to a voter survey in the eastern German state of Saxony, 9 percent of the population supports the neo-Nazi NPD party with just 8 percent in favor of the Social Democrats. The NPD says it’s because the far-right party isn’t racist.

The NPD celebrated the result in a press release, calling the numbers “really sensational.” The poll comes just three weeks after Saxony was in the news after a mob chased eight Indians through the town of Mügeln shouting “Foreigners Out!” before beating them up.
